Extreme Benchrest EBR 2017 Results and Final Day.
Day Four in Arizona brought us the final day of Extreme Benchrest 2017 and the EBR 2017 results.
Great thanks are due to Robert Buchanan of Airguns of Arizona (above) from all competitors and other attendees for hosting and funding this outstanding event! I talked to many people and all were unanimous that EBR 2017 was another great shoot and that it was enjoyed by everyone.
Today saw the finals of the Speed Silhouette competition and, of course, the finals of the Extreme Benchrest contest – now with the targets moved out to 100 yards.
Speed Silhouette is the most interesting event from a spectator perspective as it’s rapid fire and the tiny animal silhouettes can be see flying off as they are hit. So the crowds gathered round as the event started…
Below, we see Oscar Gyllenhammer of FX, then Fredrik Axelsson – of FX, of course, then Justin Jacobsen of Utah Airguns, then Ted Bier as they blaze away at the Speed Silhouette finals. Justin looks back, pleased with himself, as he’s already cleaned the course.
The excitement was intense and dramatic, but it was all too much for one of the younger spectators!
And here’s another view of Speed Silhouette competitors at work…
Given the quite strong, blustery and erratic winds that can blow across the 100 yard range, there’s always room for a “belt and braces” approach to determining the wind speed. Local Phoenix Airgun Club member Van Tucker was clearly taking no chances.
Organizing Extreme Benchrest is the responsibility of Shane Kellar of AoA (below). He does a great job of it and still manages to compete with great success – as we’ll see below. Great job Shane!
Now we’re down to the main event – the 100 Yard Extreme Benchrest Finals. Forty competitors took part in two Classes, each of 20 shooters. Of course, the wind really cranked-up its efforts for the finals, making it really tough for these 40 great shooters.
The two Classes are Sportsman Class and Pro Class. They shoot at either end of the range to compete the 30 minute contest. Here we see a view of the massed shooters along the range.
Below, Linda Koch was competing in the Sportsman Class final. Those targets sure look to be a long way away!
And here’s Matt Dubber’s view as he engaged the 100 Yard targets.
And this is Michael Hagejard from “Team FX” shooting his Impact.
After all the shooting was done, the EBR 2017 results were computed. At stake were a great range of prizes, including a check for $5,000 for the winner of the Pro Class Extreme Benchrest.
Full details of EBR 2017 results will be published on the Extreme Benchrest website. But here’s the Bronze, Silver and Gold Award winners in the prestige 100 Yard Extreme Benchrest shoot.
Sportsman Class EBR 2017 Results:
Gold. Keith Comey. Score 195 1X
Silver. John Bagakis. Score 184 1X
Bronze. Seth Russell. Score 178 2X
Pro Class EBR 2017 Results:
Gold. Shane Kellar. Score 212 1X
Silver. Matt Dubber. Score 207 2X
Bronze. Thayne Simmons. Score 201 2X
So AoA’s Shane Kellar not only organized the 2017 Extreme Benchrest Event, but he also won it! For that, he received a check for $5,000.00. Matt won $1,000.00 and Thayne $500.00. Those are certainly prizes worth winning! Great win, Shane!
So now Shane Kellar’s name will be added to the illustrious roll of previous Extreme Benchrest winners you can see below.
So now we have the 2017 EBR results and the fun’s all over for another year. Again, thanks to everyone at Airguns of Arizona for making it happen. I’ll see you there again for EBR 2018 🙂
