7mm WOLFIEK Caliber Progress Update
Hard Air Magazine readers first heard about the new 7mm Wolfiek caliber in our report from the 2025 IWA OutdoorClassics exhibition in Germany – the world’s biggest airgun show.
Now HAM can bring you an exclusive update on progress and – trust me – there’s a lot!
But first let’s quickly re-cap on the thinking behind this initiative.
Why 7mm WOLFIEK Caliber?
Wolfiek’s goal is NOT to modify or adapt an existing product, but to create a new caliber. Designed and tested over during three years of development, it has one central purpose: to be one of the greatest choices for long-distance extreme PCP shooting.
Competitions such as Extreme Benchrest set the worldwide benchmark for precision airgun shooting. This kind of event attracts shooters who are ready to invest in performance, high-quality equipment and precise ammunition. They value and enjoy the continuous effort required to achieve ever-tighter shot groupings over greater distances.

7mm WOLFIEK Caliber Project Progress
As we remarked in 2025, developing a new airgun caliber from the ground up is a gigantic enterprise. It requires R&D activities for ammunition, barrels, airguns – and more.
But in addition it needs a ton of thinking, standard-setting, documentation, planning and co-ordination among the many companies necessary to develop a whole ecosystem for this new caliber. Sure, that stuff may be boring to you and me, but it’s a vital element in ensuring the new caliber is a success from the start.
All this proves that Wolfiek Group is progressing in a structured, professional manner with their chosen project. Very good!
So what are the highlights of this progress?
1. The first pellet and slug designs have been developed and are in testing.
2. Wolfiek Group already produced over 30 tons of 7mm WOLFIEK ammo! You can buy it now on the Wolfiek website and it will soon be available worldwide.
3. The first dedicated 7mm WOLFIEK air rifle is moving towards production.
4. 7mm WOLFIEK caliber conversion kits are in development for multiple existing airgun models.
5. Multiple other airgun manufacturers have signed-up to include the new caliber in their range.
6. More ammo alternatives are being developed by well-known ammo manufacturers.
With my personal background in product development, I can tell you that these are extremely impressive accomplishments. Well done Wolfiek!
Now let’s look at some details…
7mm WOLFIEK Caliber Background
So why 7mm WOLFIEK? Here’s some of the ballistic science and thinking behind this new caliber.
7mm WOLFIEK was conceived by Francisco Eizayaga, – together with input from some great, well-known professional shooters including Matt Dubber, to solve a clear gap in the high-performance PCP market: between .25 (6.35mm) and .30 (7.62mm) calibers. Both encounter limits when pushed into long-range competitive shooting.
In simple terms, if we compare capabilities in terms of power and external ballistics, the .25 is too small, and the .30 caliber too big. This is one of the reasons why, in notoriously windy competitions, many shooters struggle to choose between competing with .25 and .30 calibers.
So the new 7mm WOLFIEK is nominally positioned between these established options. However, as Francisco explains, its purpose is not merely a compromise.
His vision is to design a caliber that not only maintains the main advantages of the .25 and .30, but increases accuracy with a higher Ballistic Coefficient (BC). He also clearly appreciates the benefits that come from designing both barrels and ammo together.
We all know that nowadays, many shooters need to try multiple different pellets or slugs (between different sub-calibers, weights and batches), and plenty of different configurations in their airguns to achieve that sweet spot for downrange accuracy.
7mm WOLFIEK also aims to make that work, hopefully, a bit easier. Francisco clarified that he is aware that to make this work (which is part of the hobby) easy, is an impossible ideal. But he feels that the new caliber will make the effort more productive.

Five ammunition types are currently under development. Two are pellets, three are slugs. They are:

– 83.8 Grain Wolfiek Mega Slug

These results are impressive and give us a first glimpse into the potential of this new caliber.
The First Dedicated 7mm WOLFIEK Air Rifle
The 7mm WOLFIEK is not defined by the caliber alone, but by the platform engineered to unlock its full performance: the Wolfiek PANDORA PRS air rifle. It’s now launched and available as a complete system for competitive shooters.
Developed in collaboration with AEA Airguns and shaped by extensive real-world experience alongside leading PCP platforms, as well as input from elite shooters across multiple disciplines, PANDORA PRS is the first rifle specifically built to support 7mm caliber.
This modular platform allows to perform across PRS, benchrest, and long-range shooting without compromise, removing previous limitations.

7mm WOLFIEK Caliber Conversion Kits
Wolfiek Group is developing 7mm WOLFIEK conversion kits for a selection of popular high-end air rifles.
While the PANDORA PRS air rifle will be one of the first 7mm WOLFIEK airguns in completed form, expansion continues through planned conversion kits for selected high-end PCP platforms. This includes brands like RTI Arms, EDgun, Taipan, Epic, Skout, Daystate, FX and others.
This approach will enable broader adoption as this new standard establishes itself in the market.
This strategy will allow you to enter the world of 7mm WOLFIEK without having to buy a new airgun.
Airgun Manufacturers Are Embracing 7mm WOLFIEK
And the 7mm WOLFIEK story is just getting started!
In the coming month and years (some brands will take more than months), Wolfiek says that several of the most respected names in the airgun industry, including RTI Arms, AEA, EDgun, Taipan, Epic, and Skout, will be launching their own dedicated 7mm WOLFIEK versions.
That means the caliber 7mm WOLFIEK is pioneering and can become a platform for the entire high-end airgun industry to rally around.
