Black Bunker Survival Air Rifle BM8

I’ve seen the Black Bunker Survival Air Rifle BM8 once before. It was at the 2023 IWA OutdoorClassics Show in Nuremberg, Germany. In my view, it was the most innovative airgun – among many new products – I saw at that show.

Since then? Nothing. At least until now! Suddenly Pyramyd is listing it on their website as a “Pre Order” in both .177 and .22 calibers.

Let’s be clear, the BM8 is definitely NOT a traditional airgun. It’s intended entirely for preppers and outdoor enthusiasts who want a compact, easily transported survival tool.

What is revolutionary is the physical format of the Black Bunker BM8. When not in use, it folds up into a triangular package that can be easily carried by hand, in a ruck sack or in a truck. That’s what you see in our heading photograph above.

Unfolded, it looks like this.

Here’s how the gun “assembles” from travel/storage to firing mode. In fact, the BM8 achieves its triangular form factor by pivoting the barrel, stock and action around a rugged storage case.

What appears before our eyes is a break barrel airgun with a gas ram action. The manufacturer says that the stock is manufactured from military-grade reinforced polymer.

The cocking arm disengages when in triangular form and is engaged for operation.

Ingenious!

That triangular thing in the center of the folded gun is actually a case for storing pellets, tools and – possibly – a survival knife. Or, a scope.

The prototype I saw in Germany allowed a knife to be added to the muzzle for use as a bayonet. This is primarily a SURVIVAL TOOL, after all. It looks as if the models being carried by Pyramyd do not include the knife.

Pyramyd is listing the BM8 in black finish. The prototype I saw was in “Coyote Tan”.

The Black Bunker Survival Air Rifle BM8 is fitted with low-profile iron sights. There’s also an AK47-style Picatinny rail for the addition of a compact scope. (Think Leapers UTG Bugbuster with Picatinny rings that can be rapidly installed/removed and stored in the case).

Power level specifications are up to 16 Ft/Lbs for the .177 caliber model. 18 Ft/Lbs for the .22. That’s certainly enough for harvesting small game in a survival situation.

The manufacturer says that the Black Bunker Survival Air Rifle BM8 has set a new standard for survival air rifles, combining innovation, durability and practicality in a single product.

The price? $299.99. I’m predicting Pyramyd will sell them fast when they arrive…
