Classic Soviet Air Pistols Available At Pyramyd Air
If you have an interest in classic Soviet air pistols, Pyramyd Air has a range available from Gletcher.
The Gletcher brand has been quiet for some time. But obviously they’re back again and with a range of airgun replicas of classic Soviet cartridge firearms.
Although it’s not made explicit in most cases, these are actually all BB guns and not pellet-firing pistols. All are powered by 12 Gram CO2 cartridges, however.
Gletcher uses codes to direct you to the original model names, presumably to avoid trade mark issues. For example, the “NGT” is a replica of the Mosin Nagant pistol and the “PM” represents the Marakov. “TT” represents the (Tula) Tokarev.
Some of the semi-automatic models also include the designation “NBB”. This stands – HAM believes – for “non blow back”. The Gletcher people obviously decided to concentrate on high FPS and shot count, rather than blowback action.
For an explanation of the logic behind this, check out this explanatory HAM post. Generally, non-blowback guns tend to show slightly better accuracy, too.
The lack of blowback also keeps the price low. For example, the PM is selling for just $69.99.
One surprise in the replica pistols market is that these Gletcher producs carry an 18-month warranty. This is definitely longer than most competitive manufacturers offer.
So, if you’re interested in classic Soviet air pistols, these new models could be worth investigating.
