Coming Soon! The New SIG Airguns MCX Gen II Pellet Air Rifle
There will soon be a new version of the CO2-powered SIG MCX pellet gun. Its official name is the SIG Airguns MCX Gen II Pellet Air Rifle.
This “Gen II” version of the MCX follows the format of the previous version. As an airgun version of the centerfire MCX, it offers simulated SIG MCX performance and handling for realistic, economical training and practice. It’s also an ideal backyard plinker, much like the MCX Rattler Canebrake that debuted in 2021.
At first sight, the SIG Airguns MCX Gen II Pellet Air Rifle looks very similar to the original version. Then you start to notice the changes…
The most obvious is that the Gen II model has a flat trigger blade. This is in exchange for the extravagant curve of the original version.
Next, you’ll see that there’s a new pistol grip. This has a reduced rake compared of the previous version. It also has an open base. I spent several minutes looking for a missing cap for the pistol grip, eventually to find that there is not one!
As before, the stock covers the 88/90 Gram CO2 cartridge that powers the gun. However now there’s a new design with a low profile recoil pad.
The front handguard has been re-designed too. There’s still the integrated Picatinny rail along the top, however the sides an bottom now have M-Lok slots for attaching accessories. This replaces the Keymod slots of the previous model.
Still included are the front and rear BUIS iron sights. The front is adjustable for elevation, the rear for windage, as before.
The 30-round, belt-feed magazine continues unchanged. The MCX is supplied in .177 caliber and one mag is supplied with the gun. Additional magazines are available, too, to increase shooting time on the range.
(That’s the pellet seating tool you see between the pellets and the belt in the photograph below).
HAM will be bringing you our comprehensive test review of the Gen II MCX in the near future. For testing purposes, we mounted a Leapers UTG Bugbuster 3-9x32AO scope – with a UTG riser to achieve a more comfortable eyeline when using the scope.
That’s also a Leapers UTG two-leg bipod mounted on the sides of the handguard. It also worked well and looks good when attached to the MCX.
The MSRP is $199.99 and it’s becoming available in stores now…
