Air Arms Galahad Bullpup Air Rifle Launched at SHOT Show

Among the highlights of the SHOT Show 2016 is the first appearance of the new Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle. HAM hears that there will be at least two examples of this new gun at the show – we can’t wait to see and handle them!

Air Arms claims that this new air rifle was Inspired by Sir Galahad, the most noble, virtuous and pure knight of the Round Table. The Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle has been intelligently designed with a range of features to ensure power, strength and accuracy, the manufacturer says. It’s based on the same proven power plant and magazine system as the S410/S510 range.

Designed with a unique, forward mounted cocking lever placed at the centre of the action, Air Arms claims that it’s easier than ever to cock the Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle. The forward motion cocking, encourages the shooter to stay on target, reduces body movement and helps maintain stealth, they say.

There are two lengths of action available, carbine and rifle – both have a fully shrouded barrel with the option of fitting an additional moderator. Air Arms, for the first time, will also be offering the Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle in both regulated and non-regulated versions.

Our photograph above shows the Galahad in carbine form.

The bullpup stock has a multi axis adjustable butt pad fitted as standard.  This pad can be pivoted left or right and can move up and down. To increase the length of pull, spacers can be fitted between pad and stock and there’s a short rail under the fore-end to mount accessories.

The Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle offers the option of having either a picatinny or dovetail scope rail fitted. Air Arms says that the centre of gravity is just to the rear of the pistol grip, which allows the short action to be held with extreme stability.

The Galahad’s curvaceous cocking mechanism cover made from solid aerospace grade aluminium for maximum strength without additional weight. In addition, all of the edges have been thoughtfully softened for ease of use, Air Arms tells us.

Despite the Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle’s, sophisticated and practical design, the manufacturer says that comfort is not compromised. The Galahad is fully ambidextrous and includes the ability to transfer the cocking arm from the left or right hand side with extreme ease. The Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle has a black, soft touch cheek piece and the unique pistol grip shape provides shooters with additional resting options during a compact shooting stance.

The Galahad’s stock contains an aesthetically pleasing sporting shape, which differentiates it from the traditional bull pup style, says Air Arms. Available in Walnut, Black soft touch or Beech, the Air Arms Galahad bullpup air rifle certainly looks attractive to us.
