New .22 Caliber JSB Slugs Coming Soon
Here’s advanced, “sneak peek” news of some new .22 caliber JSB slugs coming soon. Now this is not full, comprehensive information, but it does give us a flavor for the new products.
Currently, JSB Knock Out slugs are available in 25.39 Grains weight for “.22 caliber”. In fact they’re produced in three calibers: .216, .217 and .218 Inch.
In the comprehensive HAM test review of these first Knock Out slugs, we concluded that: “These slugs are well-priced and provide an outstanding mushrooming effect in the target. The Ballistic Coefficient is high, too. These benefits makes Knock Out slugs ideal for long range hunting use. The HAM Silver Award is definitely well deserved!”
But wait. Now there’s more…
Two tins of new .22 Caliber JSB Slugs have arrived at the HAM offices. These are advanced samples of full production product. However they are in pre-production packaging, as you can see.

First of the two sample tins we have are 20.83 Grain slugs in .216 diameter. These are shown in the photograph below.

As is clearly visible, the hollow point of these new slugs is very large. In fact, it’s much larger than that of the existing 25.39 Grain Knock Outs. That hollow point is also much deeper, in fact, very deep indeed.
These characteristics are shared by the second new tin of slugs. These 28.55 Grain slugs are in .217 caliber. The overall shape is very similar, but with a longer, parallel-sided body.
The manufacturer is claiming a Ballistic Coefficient of 0.088 for these heavier slugs. They are shown in the photograph below.

If we place an existing 25.39 Grain Knock Out slug between the new 20.83 Grain and 28.55 Grain slugs, the comparison is clear.

Joe Iturralde at Predator Pellets – the US importer for JSB products – tells me that he’s been shooting these new slugs in pre-production form and has been impressed with their power, accuracy and consistency for hunting. That’s a great recommendation, in my opinion!
These new .22 caliber JSB slugs should be available soon – before year end. Prices, packaging and micro-caliber (.216, .217, etc.) availability are still to be confirmed at the time of writing.
