The New Air Venturi Tank With Stock & Adapter, 13 cu in, Aluminum, 3,000 psi, Black
The Air Venturi Tank With Stock & Adapter, is an interesting new accessory product that’s available from Pyramyd Air and Airgun Depot.
It comprises three separate parts. There’s a regulated High Pressure Air (HPA) tank, an adapter and a buttplate. Air Venturi is marketing this kit as a way to operate the popular SIG SAUER MCX and MPX air rifles on HPA, instead of CO2.
The benefits of running these air rifles on HPA are said to be more shots per fill and more consistent overall muzzle velocities, particularly in low ambient temperatures or rapid fire situations.
HPA is relatively temperature-independent, while CO2 pressure – and hence muzzle velocity – varies significantly with changes in temperature. CO2 cools when the gun if fired, lowering the muzzle velocity of subsequent shots. This is not the case with HPA, for practical purposes.
There’s only one catch. You need to have a supply of High Pressure Air – such as a pump, tank or compressor – to fill the Air Venturi tank. But more and more people do have this capability…
The tank in the Air Venturi Tank With Stock & Adapter is filled to 3,000 PSI, using standard quick-disconnect fittings. The regulator attached to the tank reduced that pressure to 1,100 PSI before it enters the gun.
The adapter allows the regulated tank to fit into the 90 Gram CO2 tank threads built-in to the gun. (These are different from the threads on the regulated talk itself). And then the buttplate snaps onto the end of the tank, making it more comfortable to fit against the shooter’s shoulder.
The Air Venturi Tank With Stock & Adapter seems to work well in the video that Pyramyd Air has produced to accompany and explain the product. If you have a SIG SAUER MCX or MPX air rifle and HPA charging equipment, it sounds like a great idea!
Hard Air Magazine hope to bring you its own test of the Air Venturi Tank With Stock & Adapter in the fairly near future.
