New Crosman Challenger Now On Pre-Order
The new Crosman Challenger is now available for pre-order at Pyramyd Air. Pyramyd is estimating an in-stock date of May 4th, 2022.
The previous model – the Challenger 2009 – has completely dominated 10 Meter 3P Sporter competition in the USA for many years. So there’s much anticipation among the Three Position shooting community about this new upgrade.
Although the Challenger name is retained, this is actually a completely new model, with very few – if any – common parts with the Challenger 2009.
The new Crosman Challenger is a match-quality PCP air rifle that features a floating Lothar Walther barrel. It’s available in only .177 caliber – of course – and has a maximum claimed Muzzle Velocity of 580 FPS.
Among improvements over the 2009 model are a fully-adjustable synthetic stock with a precision-adjustable cheek piece and adjustable rubber buttpad for a variable length of pull. Another change is the provision of an adjustable trigger shoe for the two-stage trigger.
The bottom accessory slot now includes a precision-adjustable sliding hand rest (hamster). It also accepts optional accessories including a bipod for added flexibility.
The action is now regulated. Crosman says that the 3000 PSI air cylinder provides the new Challenger with over 200 consistent shots per fill. The new sidelever cocking system can be switched to the either side of the stock. This will undoubtedly be a big change from the previous “T handle” system while still providing ambidextrous cocking capability.
The hooded front aperture sight accepts removable inserts. The diopter rear sight features the expected micro-click windage and elevation adjustments.
All-in-all, this year’s Crosman Challenger PCP conforms to the requirements for National Standard three-position air rifle competition. This means it serves as an ideal introduction to competitive shooting for both youth and experienced airgunners – just like its predecessor.
