New Sahara XR PCP Launched by Brocock
The latest introduction from British airgun manufacturer Brocock is the Sahara XR PCP air rifle. This is a new lightweight and compact carbine introduction, expanding the company’s innovative XR sidelever PCP line-up.
Aptly named the Sahara XR, it brings a practical sand finish to its proven semi-bullpup configuration, while retaining the features that have made it a firm favourite with airgunners: pest-controllers in particular.
For added functionality, the new Sahara’s thumbhole polymer stock incorporates an adjustable cheekpiece and butt pad. Stylish moulding panels adorn the grip and forend. There’s also also a Picatinny accessory rail for mounting a bipod.
The Sahara is based on the action of the HAM Gold Award-winning Sniper XR. However there’s a shorter overall length and – of course – the color scheme that echoes that of the previous Extreme Benchrest-winning Brocock Patagonia model.
The Huma-Air Regulator and revised hammer that were designed specifically for the Sniper XR are incorporated in the Sahara XR.
Its easy-to-operate sidelever runs Brocock’s new all-metal self-indexing magazine. The company says that this mag system guarantees perfect pellet/bore alignment, offers more chambers and a flip-open gate to make loading easier. It also loads into the breech from the right to cater for scopes with larger sidewheels.
Up top, the Sahara XR comes complete with front and rear Picatinny scope rails. These can be removed to reveal a standard 11mm if required. Accuracy comes courtesy of a high-grade German barrel with a shorter, sand-finished barrel shroud.
Brocock describes the Sahara XR as compact, perfectly balanced and very pointable when in the shoulder. Handling is further aided by a compact length of just 32.25 Inches (820mm) from butt to threaded muzzle. It tips the scales at a mere 7.3 Lbs (3.3kg), too.
The new Sahara gives shooters yet more choice in what is an already-comprehensive XR line – and it is available in UK gun shops now. In the US, Airguns of Arizona is taking reservations now and anticipates receiving their shipments in the near future.
