New SIG AIR M17 ASP Pistol Also Launched At SIG Press Event
But wait, there’s more… At last week’s Press Event, SIG AIR also officially launched no less than three air pistols. These were the new SIG AIR M17 ASP pistol, the X-Five ASP pistol and the ASP Super Target pistol!
While it’s true that the X-Five ASP pistol has already reached retail distribution, the other two were completely new models.
The SIG AIR M17 ASP Pistol is a CO2-powered version of the U.S.Army-issued P320 M17. It has the same look and feel and is a hoot to shoot – as you can see by my reaction in the photograph below. Photo SIG SAUER.
In fact, the SIG AIR M17 ASP pistol brakes new ground for the company. It’s the first SIG pistol to combine a 20-round belt magazine for pellets with a drop free magazine.
This is achieved with the belt magazine module fitting into the drop free magazine, which is them loaded into the SIG AIR M17 ASP pistol. Very smart!
Of course, the SIG AIR M17 ASP pistol has a metal slide and full blowback.
MSRP for the SIG AIR M17 ASP pistol will be $139 and you can expect to see this air pistol on sale for around $119. SIG is claiming over 80 shots from one CO2 cartridge. Muzzle velocity is in the 350 FPS region.
SIG AIR told us that the M17 ASP aim date for availability is November 2018. That’s not far away! The X-Five is available right now. Photo below.
Normally, just launching the ASP20 air rifle would be sufficient for one Press launch. Also launching the accompanying Whiskey 3 ASP scope and no less than three pistols, really shows the growing strength in depth of SIG AIR!
A completely new model in the early stages of development was the ASP Super Target pellet pistol. This model is an over-cocking, single stroke pneumatic pistol with a distinct similarity of appearance to SIG 210-type pistols.
The ASP Super Target sample we saw was not shootable, but we could try the cocking effort and balance for size.
John Bright, the “main man” at Highland Outdoors – the British distributor for SIG AIR products, couldn’t resist taking a good look at it. Photos above and below SIG SAUER.
There’s a chance the ASP Super target could ship this year…
Phew, that’s a lot of new products!
