New Umarex Gauntlet Side Lever Air Rifle
Umarex USA continues to develop and improve the Gauntlet! Many shooters will be pleased to welcome the latest version: it’s the Gauntlet side lever air rifle.
Specifically, this new model is designated the Gauntlet SL30. It’s the .30 caliber Gauntlet in side lever format.
Hard Air Magazine has reviewed multiple Gauntlets since the first model appeared back in 2017. All have earned HAM Gold Awards for their combination of price, quality and value.
That includes the .30 caliber model which we reviewed in June 2022. We found that it delivered outstanding value, with up to 110 Ft/Lbs of Muzzle Energy on tap, combined with the best price/performance for any magazine-fed PCP air rifle in the market.
The main downside we called for the .30 caliber Gauntlet was the heavy bolt action. Make that a VERY heavy bolt action! So there’s no doubt that the new SL30 Gauntlet side lever air rifle would score even higher than the 90% score recorded for the bolt action version.
Otherwise the Gauntlet SL30 has the same functionality as the bolt gun in this caliber. That includes the regulated HPA supply, hammer spring adjustment and 7-shot magazine.
True, the price of the new Gauntlet side lever air rifle is higher than the bolt-action model.
However, at a MSRP of $529.99, it’s not much more. In fact, you can find it selling for just $499.99 at Pyramyd Air – that’s just $20 more than the bolt gun. That sounds like a pretty good deal and it’s in stock, too at the time of writing!
