New UTG Dovetail to Picatinny/Weaver Adapter Mount From Leapers
Leapers has just announced a new UTG Dovetail to Picatinny/Weaver Adapter Mount
that will be of use to many airgunners.
This UTG-branded adapter is a new generation version of a successful and long-running Leapers product. It allows Weaver/Picatinny ring-mounted scopes to be used on air rifles fitted with dovetail rails. As many scopes now are supplied bundled with Weaver/Picatinny rings, this is a very useful adapter to have!
The new UTG Dovetail to Picatinny/Weaver Adapter Mount is the same overall length as the model it replaces. It’s also manufactured from aircraft-grade Aluminum and is finished in a matt black hard coat anodizing.
And it also includes a scope stop pin that can be locked into the hole found in many spring/piston air rifles to restrain scope “creep” under recoil.
However, this new version of the UTG Dovetail to Picatinny/Weaver Adapter Mount has three high strength locking screws, rather than two of the previous version. This provides increased clamping strength for holding the adapter (plus its load) to the rifles scope rails.
Leapers says that this adapter is compatible with dovetail rails spaced between 9mm and 11mm. It’s also said to be compatible with most radiused areas between the rails, due to built-in clearance that allows for the “hump” due to circular compression tubes on spring/piston air rifles.
Further improvements to the new generation UTG Dovetail to Picatinny/Weaver Adapter Mount are lightening cuts located in the underside of the adapter and invisible when mounted.
Leapers also tells us that this new generation version has “dehorned corners” and “melted contours”. This is to eliminate some of the pronounced corners that could very occasionally snag with the original version.
