New Weihrauch HW 80 SL Introduced at IWA

Every year at the IWA OutdoorClassics show, Weihrauch & Weihrauch Sport GmbH & Co. – to give the company it’s full, official name – launches a new product. In 2022 it was the Weihrauch HW 80 SL.

This version of the workhorse, spring/piston HW80 platform incorporates a stylish new stock design with a “schnabel-like” forend.

New Weihrauch HW 80 SL Introduced at IWA

It’s another part of the progressive series of upgrades that Weihrauch has been giving it’s range of breakbarrel air rifles over the past year or so. (There’s more details and a summary of the range in this HAM story).

While many owners already consider these guns close to perfection, the company doesn’t rest on its laurels and continues to phase incremental improvements into production.

While the Weihrauch 80 SL is a production model, the company was also showing this “one off” version of the HW100 BP with a laminated stock. The IWA Show was an opportunity to gain customer input about this as a potential future introduction.

The HAM Team loved the HW100 Bullpup when we reviewed it. In our opinion, that laminated stock makes it look even more desirable. There! That’s our opinion…

Elsewhere, the Weihrauch booth showcased the whole range of the company’s products, as we can see in the following photographs. Let’s take a look around…

Thanks to Thilo Schallenkammer from Weihrauch for sending the photographs illustrating this story.

As you can see, Thilo took them at a time when the show was not open. Whenever I’ve been there during the show’s open hours, it’s almost impossible to take photographs at the Weihrauch booth. The place is always packed with attendees. So I’ve never seen it like this before!

There’s more information on the whole product range at the Weihrauch web site.
