Airguns at the 2017 SHOT Show – Final Report

This is HAM’s final report on airguns at the 2017 SHOT Show. But it doesn’t mean that this is any less important than the other stories we’ve posted about this huge industry trade show.

Although SIG SAUER featured relatively few new airguns at the 2017 SHOT Show, there’s no doubting the serious intent and huge resources that this company is applying to the airgun business. Just take a look at their booth in our heading photograph above. And that’s just a small part of the whole SIG SAUER booth. My guess is that 2018 could be a big year for new SIG SAUER airgun products.

Hatsan rolled-out yet more new PCP air rifles. Most interesting to me were two new semi-automatic models. Cecil Bays, who’s holding the new Hatsan Barrage below, tells me that it’s capable of firing just as fast as he can pull the trigger!

In addition to the Barrage, there’s also a Hatsan BullMaster, bullpup version of the same action. Cecil told me that the semi-automatic action is operated using air captured near the end of the barrel. That’s something like a “gas trap” Garand firearm action, I guess.

Hatsan was also showing the new Nova PCP…

… and the new .45 caliber Hercules big bore PCP air rifle.

Although Diana didn’t have any “net new” airguns at the 2017 SHOT Show, the company was showing a number of different stock concepts for their range of breakbarrel air rifles…

… including this one for a custom leather buttstock cheekpiece.

There’s also a new, modified version of the Diana P1000 PCP air rifle. But I would expect this German company to save any big new product news for the 2017 IWA show in Germany in March.

With all the excitement over the new Gamo Swarm Maxxim 10-shot repeating breakbarrel air rifle, it’s easy to overlook the fact that Gamo is introducing new PCP air rifles such as the Urban, a development of the existing Gamo Coyote, at rear below.

Of course, BSA is a specialist division of Gamo and we would expect this British outfit to launch any new products at the IWA Show. But here’s a view of their airguns at the 2017 SHOT Show.

Of course, Leapers is always a large player at the SHOT Show. The company was showing their usual updates to their range of airgun-rated scopes, including new versions of the famous Bugbuster range, below.

No new pellets were shown at the 2017 SHOT Show by either JSB or H&N, but we should make it clear that – in this photograph below – JSB is NOT entering the paper-stapling business, nor are the huge “pellets” actually real pellets. They’re simply very large samples for display!

Well, that’s about it for Hard Air Magazine’s reports on airguns at the 2017 SHOT Show. I hope that you have enjoyed seeing the many new products we found at the show and that you have found your new favorite “must have” airgun for 2017!
