New RWS Pellets For Precision Air Pistol Competition
These new RWS pellets expand the product range on the German ammunition manufacturer further in competitive precision pistol shooting.
RWS R10 Match pellets have long been available in .177 caliber in 8.2 Grains weight. This makes them ideal for 10 Meter rifle competition, but a little heavy for competitive air pistol use.
So the company has introduced a lighter version in 7.0 Grains weight.
These are identified primarily by the bold light blue squares on the tins. The designation “light” or “Pistol” is being used in product naming to make them readily distinguishable from the 8.2 Grain versions.
The new RWS pellets are available in 4.48, 4.50 and 4.51 head diameters at the nominal .177 caliber. This enables pellet selection based on the precise bore size and characteristics of the air pistol being used for greatest accuracy.
All head diameters are packed in tins of 500 pellets.
All RWS R10 Match pellets are wadcutters, of course. This design creates sharp, clear holes in paper targets for precise scoring. Sure, the Ballistic Coefficient of wadcutter pellets is low. But that hardly matters for use at 10 Meters range. Other considerations are much more important!
As with some other airgun pellet manufacturers, RWS pellet quality grades are dependent on monitoring and selection for consistency. R10 Match pellets are included in the company’s Premium Line, indicating manufacture to tight tolerances for consistent accuracy.
The absolute top end of consistency in the RWS range is indicated by the “R10 Match Plus” designation. These are hand-selected and individually packed in foam trays.
HAM tested the R10 Match Plus pellets and found that they were – indeed – of very high manufacturing consistency. You can check out the review here.
