See You There! The 2021 Finger Lakes Field Target Grand Prix
The first annual Finger Lakes Field Target Grand Prix will be held on August 21/22, 2021. That name – while descriptive – definitely needs an abbreviation. So FLFT it will be!
While the Finger Lakes Field Target Grand Prix (FLFT) is a new name, it’s actually an offspring of the former Crosman All American Field Target event. The Crosman FT competition ran successfully for several years, but – sadly – became a casualty of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Not wanting to loose such a prestigious match for ever, Eric Brewer decided to stage a replacement for 2021.
Drum roll… It’s the first of a planned annual series of FLFT championships. The shoot is AAFTA-sanctioned and abides by all AAFTA rules.
Not wanting to mess with success, the 2021 FLFTC will be held at the same range as the old Crosman shoot. This is the Rochester Brooks Gun Club, 962 Honeoye Falls #6 Road, Rush, NY 14543.
The location is on the edge of the beautiful upstate New York Finger Lakes area, not far from Rochester NY. It’s easily accessible from the I-90 Thruway.
With both a testing woods course and a wild, windy open field course, this range offers a wide variety of Field Target shooting experiences. This is a course that can challenge even the best!
The outline schedule is as follows…
August 21 (Saturday) will be the first half of the rifle event, followed by the pistol shoot in the afternoon. On Sunday the second part of the rifle shoot will be held, together with the awards ceremony.
Many of you will recognize Eric Brewer’s name. He’s the specialist HAM piston air rifle tester. In addition, he’s the Match Director for Field Target at the Rochester Brooks Gun Club. Now he’s volunteered to be both organizer and Match Director of the Finger Lakes Field Target Grand Prix.
To back-up Eric’s initiative, the FLFT championship is being sponsored by Airguns of Arizona. Thanks to the good folk in Phoenix for stepping-up to the plate!
“The plan is to make the Finger Lakes Field Target Grand Prix one of the must-attend events for Field Target airgunners,” Eric explained.“The FLFTC will be a lot of fun for all Field Target competitors. We’ll be welcoming every level of competitor, from the novice just getting started to the world class expert.”
The FLFT will have are divisions and classes for competitors: Open, Hunter, WFTF, Hunter Pistol and Limited Pistol.
And if you want to appear in HAM, this could be your chance! HAM Publisher Stephen Archer will be at the event and publishing daily reports on the event.
We’ll bringing you more details as they’re available. But – in the meantime – you can contact Eric by email at rochesterft@gmail.com.
