Seneca Dragonfly Mk2 Multi-Pump Air Rifle
There’s an old story about London buses. You wait for ages and then two come along at once! Well that seems to be true also for multi-pump air rifles. The Air Venturi Seneca Dragonfly Mk2 Multi-Pump Air Rifle has been announced within a few days of the new Crosman 362 shipping.
True, the Seneca Dragonfly is a “Mark Two” version of an existing gun. However, Air Venturi says that there are significant internal differences that make it much easier to pump – particularly at the end of the pumping cycle.
Here’s the comparison…
At first glance, this version of the air rifle is similar to the older model. However, the longer wooden portion on the forearm conceals the secret of the upgraded technology: a patented butterfly high efficiency pump system.
Air Venturi says that this improved system lowers the pumping effort by 50% compared to the original. It also keeps the effort consistent across each pump stroke, instead of constantly increasing like the older version and many competing air rifles.
Because the Seneca Dragonfly Mk2 is a multi-pump, it allows shooters to vary the power level based on the situation and the type of shooting desired. This means that shooters can go from quiet backyard plinking that won’t disturb the neighbors, to small-game hunting power levels. That’s done simply by using ta different number of pumps to add more air to the reservoir.
With a minimum of 3 pumps and a maximum of 15, that’s quite a large range of power levels that are possible!
The Dragonfly Mk 2 is capable of velocities up to 950 FPS in .177 and 800 FPS in .22. Both these figures are for alloy pellets. This provides the necessary power for small-game hunting, pest control, and plinking.
The Dragonfly’s bolt action operates a rotary magazine that holds 9 rounds in .177 caliber. It’s 7 shots in .22 cal.
As with other multi-pump airguns, part of the Dragonfly’s attraction is the light weight and small size. It weighs 6.5 Lbs with an overall length of 40 Inches and a slim profile.
A scope can be added to the 11mm dovetail rail on the breech while a moderator or air stripper can added to the 1/2″x20 threaded muzzle.
The gun is supplied complete with one magazine and a single shot tray.
Pyramyd Air estimates the Seneca Dragonfly Mk2 Multi-Pump Air Rifle will be available in May 2022. The Street Price is $199.99.
