Register Now For Orion 2020 Air Pistol League And New Shooter League

Orion Scoring System has announced that registration is now open for their 2020 Air Pistol League and air rifle New Shooter League.

2020 Air Pistol League

Orion’s National Air Pistol League is claimed to be one of the largest air pistol leagues in the world!

The National Air Pistol League differs from the National Air Rifle League in a few key areas.

First, the National Air Pistol league is open to all age groups, it is not limited to juniors or high school age athletes.

Second, teams are not split into skill-based divisions. Instead, all teams compete in the same (single division) league. With the exception of the first two weeks where games are scheduled randomly, competition parity is achieved by scheduling games between teams of near equal League Points.

Changes from 2019 season:
Course of fire is changed to 60 shots
Teams may submit their bye-week requests when registering

Registration Deadline: 17 January 2020
Pre-Season Competition: 1 January to 26 January 2020
Coaches Meeting Webinar: The week of 20 January (exact date and time to be set)
Regular Season: 27 January to 5 April 2020

Register for the 2020 Air Pistol League.

Orion National Air Rifle New Shooter League

Designed for athletes in their first year of competition, this league will have teams compete in an eight game, ten week season starting in January.

Orion’s New Shooter League will have a parity-focused, dynamic schedule. This means each week teams will be paired against other teams with a near-equal win-loss record, thus giving each team a reasonable chance of winning each week, regardless of skill level.

The New Shooter League award schedule is designed to encourage improvement. Every team that can show improvement in the league and participate in the full schedule will earn medals for the team and a banner to hang in the range.

For changes from the 2019 season, teams may submit their bye-week requests when registering.

Also, Orion is considering adopting decimal scoring for this league. This has not been decided yet, and will be decided after the 2019 National Air Rifle League Coaches Survey. This is consistent with the updated National Three-Position Air Rifle Rules (5.3.1 g).
